According to the study, the welcoming character and friendliness of the locals, the accommodation, the sense of security, the gastronomy and the beauty of the landscapes are the top-5 satisfaction criteria for tourists in Southern Europe (Greece, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Malta , Turkey and Croatia). In all 5 of these critical dimensions of the tourist experience, Greece outperforms the competition and offers very high satisfaction. Greece, however, significantly lags behind competing countries in other tangible and intangible elements and dimensions of the experience, such as the cleanliness of individual destinations, visitor information and assistance, urbanization, airport access, road infrastructure and the offered experience at the archaeological sites.
